What is a hybrid car?
A hybrid car is a car that uses two or more distinct power sources to drive. The most popular hybrid car is Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). It combines a gasoline combustion engine and an electric motor powered by electric batteries. The two engines can both individually or together power the vehicle.
One popular hybrid car subtype is Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). PHEV is a fuel-electric hybrid with increased energy storage capacity (usually Li-ion batteries). It may be connected to mains electricity supply at the end of the journey to avoid charging using the on-board internal combustion engine.
